There is a review of rationale, history, and modalities for focal therapy. There is also a discussion on the obstacles to widespread adoption as well as where the future of the field is going. Areas of improvement include better imaging and targeting, more treatment modalities that can reliably terminate prostate cancer cells, and finally better ways to follow patients after treatment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making a significant impact and the future looks bright for men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
